What is a Podcast and RSS Feeds
You may decide that what you need to communicate, is short, sweet and to the point and a short audio clip is just the solution. You can create audio pieces by using Quicktime Pro, Audacity, or Garage Band easily (the tutorials for each of these is linked below). You can also create a podcast site and have your students suscribe to your site (or RSS feed) so they get updates and audio overviews for each week. Here is a little more on Podcasts and RSS feeds.
RSS Feeds. To suscribe to podcasts (or allow others to subscribe to your podcast) you will want to use an RSS feed. View this overview of the RSS feed.

Quicktime Pro This software comes on Macintosh computers for free. It allows you to create audio files, screencast files and even video capture if you are interested in record yourself taking to your students.
Screen-cast-o-matic This is a web-based free tool you can use to capture your screen. It can be hosted on the website or uploaded to Youtube. This uses Java so it isn't a good option for Mac products.
